Jojo's Story
This is Jo Jo. She was found as a stray in the metro Boston area and we don’t know much about her history. She is approximately 6 yrs old and full of personality. When admitted, she was very overweight which led to her having bad knees that couldn't support her weight. Since in foster care, Jojo has lost 13 oz. She also had knee surgery and underwent some rehabilitation too. Jojo is finally ready for her new home after being admitted in early July. Her new family will need to keep her on a healthy diet with plenty of exercise.
Don’t let her appearance fool you though, JoJo loves to walk and run. She made herself at home at her foster home in the first five minutes and quickly “took over”. She is very much a homebody and she went from a nervous and timid dog to a happy and adorable little girl once she walked in.
She has made friends with all foster canine sisters and brothers, including a 100lb German Shepherd. She likes everyone, including children, but maintains a quiet, watchful eye until she gets to know you. For this reason we recommend that she goes to a home with children over 10 years of age. She is not overly affectionate which makes her few kisses very special. This of course may change as she settles in her foster home and hopefully soon, her permanent home.
Because of her size she is a little scared to be picked up but is getting better about this. She manages steps surprisingly well and is not limited by her weight. She has excellent house manners and has only had one accident indoors (but that was our fault for not getting to the door on time – please keep in mind that this was within a week of being on our schedule). Jo Jo loves rolling in the grass and sitting in the sun as long as her people are in sight. She has been nicknamed the shadow because she is always near her foster people. She likes to snuggle and follow her people everywhere they go. If you are looking for a sweet companion to spoil with love not food, Jo Jo is your girl! Common misconceptions before adopting a dog: |
|
1. We’re getting Rex for the kids - they will do all the work.
Maybe for the first week or so, but most kids will slack
off soon enough and the responsibility will fall on your laps.
You are considered to be the owner because you are over the age
of 21. If your kids do not walk Rex, then it is up to you that
it gets done. As much as we talk to our kids about responsibility
and as much as they agree to care for your new dog, we all know
that sooner or later most kids will lose interest or get tired.
If you can positively answer these questions and concerns, then you may be
ready to adopt Rex.
